Marketing Center for Henan Tower | Taichung, Taiwan

As part of an ongoing collaboration with Pao Huei Construction Company and CBT Architects in Taichung, Taiwan, Landworks Studio was commissioned to design the landscape for a new residential Marketing Center on the future site of the Lantern Towers. The result of a close partnership between CBT and Landworks Studio, the center’s contemporary architecture and landscape fuse: inside merges with outside, vegetation visually and physically permeates the building, and a restrained material palette conveys a feeling of cohesion and tranquility. Based on subtle references to the classical Chinese garden, the design features a central reflecting pool that appears and disappears across the ground plane. All other elements appear to float atop this glassy surface, an effect both structurally and materially enhanced by the thin recessed columns of the architecture and the use of highly reflective materials in the courtyard. Lush planting juxtaposes the sleek wood and ceramic surfaces of the hardscape and provides both visual and physical respite from the density and noise of the surrounding city.
